Licensing & Attribution

How to understand project rights, source data, third-party materials, and attribution.

Last updated: 26 April 2026

1Project Content and Code

Know More India's original site design, copy, data modeling, analysis, and source code are not offered under an open-source license unless a specific file says otherwise. All rights are reserved for project-created materials.

You may link to public pages and quote short excerpts with attribution. Contact us before copying substantial page content, compiled datasets, code, or visual design elements.

2Public Datasets and Government Sources

Many pages summarize or transform public datasets from government bodies, Parliament portals, Election Commission material, budgets, court dashboards, official PDFs, and other public sources.

Government publication does not automatically mean every item is freely reusable for every purpose. Where a source is published under an open license such as the Government Open Data License - India, reuse remains subject to that license's attribution, non-endorsement, no-warranty, and exemption terms.

When a source has its own copyright or reuse policy, that source-specific policy controls the original material.

3Election Symbols and Party Marks

Election symbols, party names, abbreviations, logos, and marks are shown for identification and public-information purposes. They remain subject to the rights and rules of their owners, the Election Commission of India framework, and any applicable election-symbol orders or party restrictions.

Display of a party symbol or mark does not imply endorsement by the party, ECI, or any government body.

4Wikipedia, Wikimedia, and Other Third-Party Material

Some factual records use Wikipedia for discovery or secondary references, and some symbol or image assets may come from Wikimedia Commons or similar public repositories.

Wikimedia-hosted material is not one single license. Each file or page can have its own license, attribution, author, and share-alike requirements. We aim to retain source links and attribution where such materials are used.

5Generated and Project-Created Images

Generated or project-created graphics are treated as project content unless a specific page or file credits another source.

If a generated graphic incorporates a third-party reference or source asset, the source asset's rights may still apply.

6Corrections and Takedown Requests

If you believe we have missed an attribution, used a source outside its license, or should remove or replace an asset, contact hello@knowmoreindia.com with the page URL, asset/source details, and the requested correction.

We will review credible requests and either add attribution, replace the material, remove it, or explain why we believe the use is appropriate.
