The odd part

The Andaman administration deployed 223 Navy divers to plant a 2,400 sq m Tricolour at the seabed — setting a Guinness World Record that requires scuba gear to witness.

What happened

On May 2, 2026, 223 Navy divers unfurled a massive 60m × 40m national flag at the bottom of the sea off Radhanagar Beach, Havelock Island, setting a Guinness World Record for the largest underwater national flag. A Guinness adjudicator flew in specifically to certify an achievement that only certified scuba divers can ever verify. In a country where millions cannot name their own state capital, the administration chose to make the national symbol visible exclusively to people in diving equipment. The flag technically exists, the record is officially certified, and whether any ordinary citizen will spontaneously encounter it is considered completely irrelevant to national pride.
