A Joint Action Committee alleges Arunachal Pradesh's Fisheries Department diverted roughly Rs 277-300 crore through 'ghost pond' projects across Kra Daadi, Lower Subansiri and Ziro — fish farms shown as complete and productive in official records that, on the ground, were never dug or never finished. The state's Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered two cases, and the JAC had planned a peaceful march for July 6 before calling it off after Arunachal's Home Minister personally assured them the probe would be 'fair, impartial' and that departmental inquiries had begun against the Director of Fisheries and a Fisheries Administrative Officer. No one has been suspended. The fish, and the ponds they were meant to swim in, remain equally unaccounted for.
