A sub-divisional police officer in Bihar amassed ₹80 crore in assets on a government salary by distributing property across his wife, girlfriends, mothers-in-law, and household maid — the last of whom commuted to work in a Thar SUV and posted Instagram reels flashing cash.
The Economic Offences Unit raided Kishanganj SDPO Gautam Kumar's network and found ₹80 crore in disproportionate assets — 16 plots in Purnia registered in the names of various wives, girlfriends, and mothers-in-law, a tea garden in Siliguri, flats in Gurugram and Noida, and a ₹2.5 crore bungalow with ₹1 crore interiors. But the real star of the investigation is Paro, Kumar's domestic helper, who commuted to her housekeeping job in a ₹35 lakh Mahindra Thar, wore a ₹6 lakh gold necklace, and maintained an Instagram account featuring reels of herself posing with luxury vehicles and wads of cash. Upon news of the raids, Paro locked her Instagram and absconded with her entire family — the most relatable thing anyone in this story has done.
