The odd part
A high-speed highway where the Forest Department gets the middle lane and the Road Department gets whatever is left.
What happened
In a display of peak bureaucratic harmony near Patna, a 100-crore road widening project has been completed with massive trees left standing directly in the middle of the fast lane. Since the Forest Department refused to grant permits for cutting, engineers decided to simply pave around the trunks. It is now the world's first 'Green Slalom' course, designed to ensure that if the speed doesn't kill you, the oxygen surely will. Authorities claim it's a 'Natural Speed Breaker' system to keep drivers alert.
