What happened
The Union Budget 2026 has doubled down on its commitment to 'Digital India' by allocating hundreds of crores to Artificial Intelligence in education, while simultaneously trimming the fat on 'boring' things like rural connectivity and physical infrastructure. The new 'Viksit Bharat' strategy assumes that if a student is taught by an AI, they will eventually develop the intelligence to manifest their own internet connection out of thin air.
