A Selection Committee chaired by the senior-most judge of the Goa Bench recommended candidates in October 2025, then sent the file to the government. Seven months later, the file sits untouched. The body where Goans appeal against government wrongdoing is, itself, a casualty of government inaction.
The Goa Administrative Tribunal — the body Goans are supposed to appeal to when the government wrongs them on land, revenue, and tenancy matters — has had no Additional President since 2015. That is eleven years of operating without a head. When a Selection Committee chaired by the senior-most judge of the Goa Bench finally identified candidates and sent the file to the government on October 15, 2025, the government responded with seven months of total silence. Senior Advocate Carlos Alvares Ferreira summed it up: It is sad that the recommendation of a Selection Committee headed by the senior-most judge of the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court is being ignored. The tribunal hears your complaints against the government. The government appoints the tribunal head. The tribunal head has been missing since 2015. The complaint box is open.
