What happened
Gurgaon civic records show eight six-month door-to-door waste contracts were awarded for Rs 13.4 crore against an estimated Rs 22.5 crore, with bids running 30% to 53% below the corporation estimates. The contracts required 591 vehicles, but MCG's own assessment found only 369 on the ground, while councillors alleged even that number may have been dressed up with borrowed vehicles during checks. The city has relied on temporary sanitation contracts since June 2024, so the stopgap now has its own stopgap: wondering whether a 53% discount also applied to physics, fuel, and actual trucks.
