What happened
Rakesh Jain donated 110 grams of silver to the Baba Balak Nath Temple at Deotsidh in Hamirpur district in December 2021. A departmental audit surfaced this month found the temple's own stock register recorded the donation as 11.099 grams — a gap of roughly 99 grams nobody in the temple administration could account for when auditors asked. Temple Executive Officer Pawan Kumar Bhatia's on-record response was that he'd be able to comment only after checking the records himself. The shrine has been down this road before: a separate donation-accounting controversy at the same trust less than a year ago prompted Hamirpur's Deputy Commissioner to set up a committee reviewing how temple trusts across the district keep their books. Whatever that committee found, it evidently didn't catch this one.
