During a national LPG shortage, enterprising Hyderabad dealers decided the optimal storage solution for 414 gas cylinders was a graveyard in Banjara Hills. The dead, at least, were not complaining about the wait times.
As India grapples with a crippling LPG shortage caused by the Strait of Hormuz closure, Hyderabad police busted a black market racket operating out of, and this is real, a graveyard near Nagarjuna X Road in Banjara Hills. Mohd. Aamir, who runs Metro Gas Agency, had been stashing 414 HP gas cylinders among the tombstones and selling them at nearly triple the market rate. The Commissioner Task Force seized cylinders worth ₹21.88 lakh and 11 delivery vehicles, arresting 10 people including drivers and labourers. The operation had the full supply chain of a legitimate business — warehouse (graveyard), inventory management (labourers), last-mile delivery (vehicles) — just with slightly more macabre ambiance and significantly higher margins.
