Five police officers disguised a home invasion as a cheque dispute investigation, disabled the external CCTV like pros, then got busted by internal cameras they didn't know existed. The heist movie writes itself — except the thieves were the police.
In a plot twist that would embarrass a Bollywood screenwriter, five Indore police officers — including a Sub-Inspector — arrived at businessman Gaurav Jain's home in plainclothes, claiming to investigate a cheque dispute. Step one: disconnect the external CCTV cameras. Step two: ransack the house. Step three: walk out with 22 tolas (256 grams) of gold. Step four, which they skipped: check for internal security cameras. The footage from the cameras they didn't disable captured the entire operation, leading to immediate suspensions. The cheque dispute, it turns out, was real — but the investigation was not. Madhya Pradesh police have now launched a probe into how their own officers ran a more professional burglary than most actual burglars manage.
