The Itanagar Municipal Corporation has directed every commercial establishment in its jurisdiction to repaint shop shutters a uniform 'Sky Blue', display their Trade Licence number prominently on the upper shutter, and install four colour-coded waste bins (green for wet waste, blue for dry, red for sanitary, black for household hazardous) — all within a 30-day deadline. The IMC says the 'Blue City' initiative will 'improve the visual character of commercial areas' and 'strengthen the city's identity', with field inspections to follow once the deadline passes and non-compliance to attract action under unspecified Acts and Rules. Reaction from shop owners and residents, per local reporting, has been decidedly mixed. It is, notably, a paint-based solution to problems that were not, by any account, about paint.
