The odd part
India achieves the dream of 100% green energy independence—it’s so independent that it has successfully separated itself from the electricity grid entirely.
What happened
In a peak display of bureaucratic coordination, Rajasthan has produced a massive surplus of 4,000 MW of renewable energy that currently has nowhere to go. While the state proudly installed 23 GW of capacity, the transmission lines—built at a staggering cost of ₹5,000 crore—have reportedly reached their emotional capacity at 18.9 GW. The remaining power is being kept as a 'confidential reserve' to ensure the sun and wind don't feel overworked, effectively turning state-of-the-art solar parks into the world's most expensive outdoor art installations.
