What happened

In May 2026, NEET-UG was cancelled after WhatsApp groups circulated guess papers matching 120-140 actual questions — NTA insiders were arrested and the exam was scrapped for 2.27 million students. A re-exam was scheduled for June 21. On June 10, Telegram channels began selling what they described as the re-exam question paper. NTA called the claims "false and fraudulent" — the same language NTA used before the original leak was confirmed. NTA has referred the Telegram channels to cybercrime for verification, which is what happens after leaks, not before them. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who announced "zero tolerance on paper leaks," confirmed the re-exam will proceed on June 21 as scheduled. Students who lost months to the cancelled exam are now being asked to trust the same agency that ran it.
