What happened
On June 27, BJP workers led by Armoor unit president Mandula Balu entered Bharat Chandra High School in Nizamabad district and slapped Urdu teacher Amer Khan for conducting a class he says he was assigned by the school management — with a police Circle Inspector and sub-inspector present and, by multiple accounts, recording rather than intervening. Balu was arrested two days later once the video went viral nationally. But the state's next major move wasn't reinforcing the classroom — it was having X serve takedown notices to 41 handles, including 79-year-old Hyderabad daily Siasat.com and its editor, ordering removal of the video and commentary for carrying 'sensitive communal overtones.' Siasat.com publicly refused to comply. Police also slapped Section 163 prohibitory orders on Armoor after a BJP counter-protest over the same row.
