What happened

The Bodhi Pavilion at Hyderabad's MCRHRD campus was initially approved as a Rs 7 crore VVIP facility. According to opposition BRS leader T. Harish Rao, the project has since expanded to over Rs 100 crore, with the Chief Minister's family reportedly selecting the furnishings — including Italian pieces — and Rs 17 crore allocated just for security fencing. The building has been confirmed in use: trainee IAS officers of the 2025 batch made a courtesy call on the CM there in May 2026. CM Revanth Reddy named the complex the Bodhi Pavilion — a reference to the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, under which the Buddha sat, meditated, and attained enlightenment through the complete abandonment of worldly possessions. The government has not commented on the naming. The opposition has.
