Tripura Bhavan in Kolkata is the Tripura state government's accommodation facility for residents who travel to the city — most of them patients and their families seeking medical care unavailable at home. As of May 2026, visitors describe the building as resembling a "skeletal structure" of prolonged neglect. The canteen, reportedly the only food option in the vicinity, serves meals so poor that nearly 80% go to waste, leaving sick patients and their attendants dependent on food that most people will not eat. Complaints filed by guests are routed from one office to another without resolution, and senior officials have remained largely inaccessible. In a facility meant specifically for Tripura's residents, a significant portion of the staff are reportedly not from Tripura — which critics note raises questions about accountability and institutional commitment.
