The odd part
High-speed rail meets high-speed indecision.
What happened
The Indian Railway Board has set a new record for administrative velocity by suspending the Vande Bharat Express extension to Srinagar just hours after Northern Railways had officially confirmed it. In a 'now you see it, now you don't' masterclass, the board cited 'unavoidable circumstances,' which is bureaucratic code for 'somebody hit the wrong button on the circular.' Passengers have been advised that while the trains are fast, the U-turns are faster.
