What the publisher changed

  • UNDP recomputes its whole history each edition, so the earlier figures here are the current ones for those years, not the numbers printed at the time.
  • Ranks are computed from UNDP's released value series so every year sits on the same basis.

Coverage

Countries with sufficient data each year, 1990-2023.

Limitations

A low score can reflect missing data as much as genuine parity. UNDP recomputes the whole series each report, so values and ranks move retroactively and are not comparable with earlier editions. Not the same measure as the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Index, which ranks a different set of indicators.
