Coverage
Two national surveys, covering the million-plus tier: 44 bodies in Swachh Survekshan and 47 cities in Swachh Vayu Survekshan.
Limitations
Both surveys rank urban local bodies rather than cities, so one city can appear twice and several appear under a corporation name. Both rest largely on figures the city submits itself, checked by sample verification rather than audit.
